Syamsul Yusof accepts postponement of divorce proceedings with Ira Kazar
KUALA LUMPUR: Renowned director and actor Syamsul Yusof is prepared to finalize his divorce from his wife, Ira Kazar, but acknowledges that today’s proceedings have been postponed.
Syamsul’s lawyer, Azmi Rais, reported that his client was notified of Ira’s absence at the Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court today. Ira, the defendant, had recently appointed a new lawyer.
“Syamsul remained calm and composed upon learning that the divorce proceedings scheduled for today would be postponed to a later date due to Ira’s recent appointment of a lawyer,” Azmi said.
He added that Ira’s new lawyer, Fadil Abd Razak, was also unavailable for today’s court session due to commitments in Johor. As a result, the divorce proceedings will be rescheduled for September 25.
“Syamsul is ready to proceed with the divorce, but he accepts the delay and will wait for the new court date,” Azmi told Harian Metro.
Earlier, Azmi was seen at the Syariah court with Ahmad Fuad Borhan, a representative for Ira’s lawyer.
On August 19, Azmi confirmed that Syamsul had initiated divorce proceedings against Ira, citing irreconcilable differences.
Syamsul and Ira were married on January 6 of the previous year in Southern Thailand.
