KUALA LUMPUR: The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, has chosen her own village, Kampung Pertanian located in Kulai, Johor, as the focus of the Madani program.

According to the portal Wilayahku, she stated that the Santuni Madani program is an initiative directed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a few months ago, mandating that every leader in the country be responsible for caring for a village.

“This is to understand firsthand the issues faced in that village, and this initiative has been branded as Santuni Madani.

“I used to have a clinic in the Bandar Putra Kulai area (Klinik Murni), and most of the residents in Kampung Pertanian were my patients. So, this village holds a lot of nostalgia for me,” she said on Facebook.

Zaliha noted that last month, her political secretary met with local leaders to assess needs and identify the local demographics in the area.

She mentioned that a discussion was arranged yesterday with Fizwan Mohd Rashidi, the Kulai District Officer, and Mohd Fahmi Salam, the President of the Kulai Municipal Council.

“Also present were the village head, representatives from the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK), and representatives from the Kulai Member of Parliament’s office.

“I brought along the President of the Putrajaya Corporation and a delegation from the Federal Territories to join in this discussion,” she added.

Meanwhile, Zaliha stated that there is room and potential for collaboration between the Putrajaya Corporation and Kampung Pertanian.

She mentioned initiatives currently being promoted in the Federal Territories, such as Waste to Wealth and Community Gardens.

“Insya-Allah, if implemented in an organized and systematic manner, the socio-economic status of the residents can be improved,” she said.

Zaliha added that during the discussion, the Putrajaya Corporation also presented proposals for beautifying the banks of the Sekudai River and the potential for making Kampung Pertanian a domestic tourism attraction.

“This is just the first step. Insya-Allah, we will successfully implement the Santuni Madani Program in Kampung Pertanian, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision,” she concluded.
