Sophia Albarakbah calls for empathy and end to cyberbullying amidst online attacks
KUALA LUMPUR: Despite being away from any controversies, actress Sophia Albarakbah has revealed she continues to face online harassment.
In a recent news report, the 31-year-old actress expressed her confusion over why she remains a target for cyberbullying, even though she is no longer involved in any contentious issues.
“It doesn’t matter if I’ve done something wrong or not; it seems like I’m an easy target for them,” she said.
Sophia admitted that, although she tries to remain unaffected, the negative comments sometimes do impact her.
“I’d be lying if I said they don’t affect me at all, but I try not to react impulsively,” she added.
She shared that there have been times when the harsh remarks led her to seek help from a therapist. However, she is grateful for the support from her family and close friends, which has helped her cope.
“My passion for my work also helps me stay strong,” she said. “I hope netizens will show more empathy before posting negative comments, as they can have a severe impact on someone’s emotional and mental health.”
