According to the 2024 Government Electronic and Mobile Services Maturity Index, Saudi Arabia led the Middle East and North Africa area for the third year in a row.

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia publishes the index, which gauges how developed government services delivered via online portals and applications are.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia achieved a maturity rate of 96 percent in delivering digital government services, exceeding 16 other nations and ranking first in the 2024 index.

The accomplishment was hailed Monday by Ahmed Alsuwaiyan, the governor of the Digital Government Authority, who said it was the outcome of government departments working together, utilizing technology and artificial intelligence, and launching digital goods to provide services.

Before rising to the top of the index in 2022 and 2023, the kingdom came in at number four in 2020 and second in 2021. Alsuwaiyan pointed out that the advancement was brought about by notable advancements in digital services in several crucial areas, such as smart cities, health, and education.

In addition to establishing remote learning platforms and electronic university admissions, Saudi Arabia has achieved notable advancements in the education sector by providing its citizens and residents with digital prescriptions, appointment scheduling, and telehealth services.
