RCI Tabung Haji: Bukit Aman Opens 5 Investigation Papers

KUALA LUMPUR: The Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) of Bukit Aman has opened five investigation papers following nine reports received regarding the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

Bukit Aman JSJK Director, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, said the police reports were made by TH and its subsidiaries as well as members of the public.

The cases are being investigated under several legal provisions, including the Penal Code, the Tabung Haji Act 1995, the Companies Act 1965, as well as the Anti‑Money Laundering, Anti‑Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA).

“Further action is being taken to complete the investigations, including recording witness statements from within and outside the country as well as collecting relevant documents.

“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is committed to ensuring that every investigation is conducted independently, transparently, professionally and in accordance with the law,” he said in a statement yesterday.

On 29 July last, the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM) published the RCI Report regarding the investigation into issues of TH’s management and operations for the period 2014 to 2020.

The 211‑page document contains an executive summary, four main chapters, a list of exhibits, investigation findings and recommendations for improvement to be presented to the 16th Yang di‑Pertuan Agong, Al‑Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al‑Mustafa Billah Shah.

Elaborating further, Rusdi said that any party found to be involved in criminal misconduct will face stern action under existing legal provisions.

At the same time, he advised the public not to speculate or disseminate unverified information that could confuse the public and affect the investigation process.

“The public is requested to only refer to information from official channels,” he said.
