According to Harian Metro, the Chairman of the State Committee on Local Government Development, Housing, and Transport, J Arul Kumar, has warned that vendors found hiring foreign workers or subletting their stalls will be blacklisted and barred from applying for any Ramadan bazaar licenses in Negeri Sembilan.

Local authorities will take immediate enforcement action, including on-the-spot seizures, against those who fail to comply with the regulations.

“We do not allow wealthy traders to hire foreign workers at Ramadan bazaars. These bazaars are meant for small local traders to earn extra income during Ramadan,” he stressed.

“This warning is not just for vendors but also for bazaar organizers. If authorities detect the presence of foreign traders at any Ramadan bazaar in the state, strict action will be taken.”

Arul Kumar, who is also the Nilai State Assemblyman, reiterated that the primary objective of the Ramadan bazaar is to provide opportunities for local small traders, not for foreigners.

In addition to revoking the licenses of violating traders, Ramadan bazaar organizers will also face blacklisting if found breaching the conditions set by local authorities.

“Bazaars should serve as a platform for traders to generate additional income, not for profiteering by renting out stalls to others. Only those who applied for the stalls are allowed to operate at the designated locations,” he added.
