Putrajaya Idea Festival: UUM Develops EDUMI.my to Help Students and Parents Choose the Right Education Pathway

SINTOK, KEDAH: Choosing a field of study and a higher education institution should not be based solely on personal interests but must also take into account individual potential, family financial capabilities and career prospects after graduation.

Recognising these challenges, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has developed EDUMI.my, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital education platform designed to help students and parents make more informed decisions when planning their education pathways.

The platform was developed through EDUMI Sdn Bhd, a UUM spin-off company specialising in educational guidance, admission consultancy and student placement services at higher education institutions both locally and abroad.

UUM School of Business Management Senior Lecturer Associate Professor Dr Abdul Rahman Jaafar said the development of EDUMI.my emphasised the importance of aligning educational choices with individual potential and the actual needs of the job market.

“Through the Education vs Market Fit concept, the platform aims to connect students’ interests, abilities and aptitudes with fields of study that offer suitable career prospects.

“This approach is important to prevent students from making hasty decisions about their studies or simply following current trends without understanding how well their chosen fields align with future employment opportunities.”
