Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Indonesia for High-Level Talks on ASEAN Partnership and Economic Growth

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has embarked on a two-day official visit to the Republic of Indonesia, from July 28 to 29, with the objective of strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

The visit underscores Malaysia’s strong commitment to reinforcing strategic partnerships within ASEAN, particularly in critical sectors such as trade, investment, and regional stability. Discussions are also expected to cover issues related to border security, labor mobility, and the green economy.

This diplomatic engagement represents another key step in advancing Malaysia’s foreign policy priorities under the MADANI principles, which emphasize regional solidarity, sustainable development, and economic progress.

During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo to address various areas of mutual interest, including trade and economic relations, cross-border connectivity, energy transition, and digital economy collaboration. Both leaders are expected to explore new frameworks aimed at strengthening people-to-people connections and ensuring lasting stability in Southeast Asia.
