Policeman Dies in Motorcycle Accident on North-South Expressway Near Kuala Kangsar

IPOH, June 6 — A policeman was killed in a motorcycle accident on the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Kuala Kangsar while returning home to Kedah, authorities confirmed.

Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the incident occurred at approximately 7:24 p.m. on Thursday (June 5) at KM253.7 on the northbound NSE.

The victim, identified as 58-year-old Shamsul Ishak, is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle, which then skidded and crashed into a metal road divider. He sustained serious injuries, particularly to his left rib area.

Emergency responders rushed Shamsul to Taiping Hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 9:24pm.

According to police, Shamsul was on leave and traveling back to his hometown in Alor Setar, Kedah, at the time of the incident.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
