Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised that the country’s international position, investments, and diplomatic connections had been greatly improved by his official trips overseas and the dignitaries’ visits to Malaysia this year.

He added that, due to its active engagement in promoting global concerns, including justice for the Palestinian people and a more equitable and balanced international order, Malaysia is now recognised by major power leaders as a strategic partner.

“Malaysia is well-positioned to guide ASEAN into a new, more sustainable, and inclusive era by 2025,” Anwar stated.

“We enter the new year with full confidence to drive shared prosperity with the strong support of the international community,” he said in a Facebook post today.

In the accompanying video, the prime minister discussed his official travels to Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, China, Australia, Russia, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Japan, India, Peru, and Brazil in 2024.

A potential investment of RM115.2 billion (US$25.2 billion) was created by these trips, with Germany (RM46 billion), South Korea (RM32.8 billion), Australia (RM24.5 billion), Japan (RM1.45 billion), and India (RM4.8 billion) making the largest contributions.

Malaysia also received 35 foreign dignitaries, including officials from Cambodia, Argentina, China, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, and Bahrain, on official visits and courtesy calls.
