BUTTERWORTH: Police have determined that there was no foul play involved in the death of a foreign worker whose body was discovered in a car at a Bagan Ajam parking lot two days ago.

Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) district police chief ACP Anuar Abd Rahman stated that the autopsy report from Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ) indicated the 19-year-old man died from ligature strangulation.

Further investigation revealed no signs of criminal activity. “The victim was found unconscious at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. At the scene, he was discovered lying in the back seat of the car with his neck and body secured by the seatbelt,” ACP Anuar explained.

He added that preliminary investigations showed no criminal elements at the scene, and the body was subsequently sent to the HSJ Forensic Division for a post-mortem examination.

The deceased, who had recently relocated from Kuala Lumpur and was employed at a local car wash, was reported to have had domestic issues. Colleagues noted frequent arguments with his wife over the phone, suggesting he may have been under significant stress, ACP Anuar said.
