Peeping Tom caught for recording ladies in a Melaka cafe toilet
MELAKA: In Lorong Hang Jebat, Melaka police found many films of ladies in the toilet of a well-known cafe and detained a 27-year-old peeping Tom.
A 24-year-old Selangor lady filed a police report on June 2, prompting the arrest of the suspect, an Indonesian guy, according to Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah.
He added that at 4:15 p.m. that day, while the victim was using the first-floor toilet of the store, she caught the suspect red-handed.
“While using the restroom, the victim observed a cell phone via a vent.
He stated on Tuesday, June 4, that “she then sprayed water using the bidet hose at the suspect holding the phone before rushing out of the toilet.”
The victim subsequently alerted a friend about the event, who in turn notified the outlet manager, according to DCP Zainol.
He claimed that after that, the manager looked through the suspect’s (a cleaner there) mobile and discovered many recordings of other women that appeared to have been taken while they were using the same toilet.
The victim was subsequently instructed to file a police report, according to DCP Zainol.
He added that the suspect, who has been employed by the outlet since the previous year, also had a positive drug test result.
He said that the suspect is presently being looked into for violating Section 509 of the Penal Code, which deals with insulting modesty.
