Official visit to Bangladesh enhances economic and investment cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to Bangladesh aims to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy and investment.

According to the portal Wilayahku, he stated that cooperation in various other areas is also of mutual interest.

The visit is intended to pave the way for closer relations between Malaysia and Bangladesh.

Following his meeting with His Excellency Professor Muhammad Yunus, Anwar proceeded to the Presidential Palace (Bangabhaban) for a courtesy visit to the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mohammed Shahabuddin.

Earlier, the Prime Minister noted that he began his official events yesterday with a meeting with Muhammad Yunus in Dhaka.

“We focused on several important issues, particularly regarding the enhancement of trade and investment cooperation.

“This includes telecommunications, free trade agreements (FTAs), labor, the Rohingya refugee situation, higher education, halal certification, as well as the ongoing massacres in Gaza and Lebanon,” he said on Facebook.

Anwar also mentioned that the Malaysian delegation subsequently attended a tea reception hosted by the interim government, after which he and Muhammad Yunus held a joint press conference.
