Not Many PKR Members Leave to Join Parti Bersama

MELAKA: Not many PKR members have left the party to join Parti Bersama due to losing faith in the party and wanting to follow the steps of former Deputy President, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli.

Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Chief, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said, although there have been applications to leave the party, the number is only small and does not affect the strength of the party’s organisation.

“Yes, I do not deny that there have been applications made by party members prior to this to leave the party. Some have given reasons that they have lost faith in the party and choose to be with the party established by Rafizi.

“I do not deny that the existence of a new party targeting the same voter base could have some impact on the results of recent state elections,” he said at a press conference after the AMK and Wanita Keadilan National Congress 2026 at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), here today.

Therefore, Muhammad Kamil said, the experience in the Johor PRN is an important lesson for PKR that every vote is very valuable and cannot be taken lightly.

“In Bukit Batu and Perling, we lost by a very slim majority due to a slight shift in votes. We learned from that experience that every vote counts,” he said.

He stressed, in the country’s democratic system, PKR does not have the right to prevent any party from contesting in elections.

In that regard, he said, AMK’s focus now is to ensure that the party machinery works harder to garner as much support as possible from all voter groups.

Commenting on AMK’s proposal to increase the petrol subsidy limit to 300 liters per month, he said the matter is merely a proposal submitted by AMK for the government’s consideration.

He said, the proposal was made based on the views and needs of the people voiced to AMK, particularly regarding the cost of living and the need to obtain some economic relief.

“The proposal is a proposal from AMK. We use the available space to state our views and stance based on the voices of members and the people.

“We are confident that if this matter can be implemented, its impact will cut across all segments of society including the B40 and M40 groups,” he said.
