KUALA LUMPUR: No Malaysian casualties have been reported following the latest attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and the fall of a projectile near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam on Saturday (Oct 10), Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry said.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, said the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh was in contact with several Malaysians stranded by travel disruptions and was providing the necessary consular assistance.

“Malaysians residing in, travelling through, or planning to travel to Saudi Arabia are strongly urged to remain vigilant,” the ministry said.

Amid ongoing flight disruptions, Malaysians with upcoming travel plans have been advised to check their flight status directly with their respective airlines before heading to the airports.

Wisma Putra also urged travelers to anticipate possible delays or cancellations, stay updated through official channels, and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.

Following the incident, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced the temporary suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport.

To facilitate timely communication and access to consular support, Malaysians in Saudi Arabia were also urged to register and regularly update their contact details through the e-Konsular portal.

For immediate consular assistance or emergencies, Malaysians may contact the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh at 00 966 11 488 7098 or 00 966 11 488 7100 for general inquiries. An after-hours emergency helpline is available at 00 966 56 300 6319. The embassy can also be reached by email at mwriyadh@kln.gov.my.

Wisma Putra said it would continue to monitor developments closely and provide further updates when necessary.

In a separate statement on Sunday, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that Saturday’s attack on King Khalid International Airport had killed 12 people and injured 309 others.

Among those killed were four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshi nationals, and one national each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan.

The Malaysian Foreign Ministry reiterated its call for Malaysians in Saudi Arabia and those planning to travel there to remain alert, follow official advisories, and maintain contact with the relevant authorities amid the continuing travel disruptions.
