Man Pleads Not Guilty to Using Others’ MyKad Numbers to Buy Subsidised Petrol

BALING: A 53-year-old man pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here on Wednesday to 13 charges involving the misuse of other individuals’ MyKad numbers to purchase subsidised RON95 petrol under the Budi Madani fuel assistance scheme.

The accused, Azman Aziz, was alleged to have used the identity card numbers of three individuals to buy a total of 594.459 litres of subsidised petrol through the Budi 95 programme.

The alleged actions reportedly caused the victims to lose their monthly subsidised fuel quotas.

According to the charges, the offences were committed at the Padang Lengkuas BH Petrol Station between March 18 and April 23.

He was charged under Section 416 of the Penal Code for impersonation, an offence punishable by up to seven years in prison, a fine, or both if convicted.

The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Nurul Nadia Jamal, while the accused was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Masniah Dolah.

Sessions Court Judge Rohaida Ishak, acting as magistrate, granted the accused bail of RM15,000 and fixed July 8 for case mention.
