Malaysian King Visits Kazan Helicopter Plant During State Visit to Russia

KAZAN: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, toured the Kazan Helicopter Plant (KHP), one of the world’s leading helicopter manufacturers, as part of his ongoing state visit to Russia.

Accompanied by the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, His Majesty was welcomed by KHP general director Nikolai Yakovlev.

Also in attendance were Defense Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin—who is serving as Minister-in-Attendance Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, and Malaysian Ambassador to Russia Datuk Cheong Loon Lai.

During the visit, His Majesty received a detailed briefing on the plant’s operations before touring its assembly facilities and showroom. He was introduced to several of the company’s signature helicopter models, including the Mi-38 with a high-comfort cabin, the Mi-8MTV-1 in both transport and premium configurations, Ansat light helicopters in police and medical service variants

Sultan Ibrahim also inspected the interiors of various helicopters and later visited an exhibition showcasing Tatarstan’s industrial capabilities at the plant’s new flight test building.

The stop in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, forms part of His Majesty’s official state visit to Russia, made at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.
