Kuala Lumpur – The Malaysian High Commission in Dhaka, acting on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is closely watching the situation in Bangladesh following the student protests.

Despite confronting problems such as extensive disruptions to telecommunications services, the High Commission regularly collaborates with local authorities to ensure the safety of all Malaysians in the country.

Following the start of the protests, Malaysian students in Dhaka were ordered to gather at the High Commission for their own safety and to await further orders.

The students were from Dhaka’s local educational institutions, which had been affected by the protests.

Officials from the High Commission met with these children early on to assess their requirements and provide prompt help, he stated.

“As of now, the High Commission is studying solutions including helping to arrange the return journey of students who want to return to Malaysia and temporary shelter,” according to him.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks all Malaysians residing in Bangladesh to avoid the affected regions, keep vigilant, and follow all security advice and directions from local authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains committed to guaranteeing Malaysians’ safety while overseas.

The most recent developments in this scenario will be reported on a regular basis.
