Malaysia Condemns Israeli Interception of Global Sumud Flotilla, Demands Immediate Release of Activists

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2:Malaysia has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian convoy carrying international activists, volunteers, and essential aid bound for Gaza.

In a firm statement, the government called for the immediate release of all detained activists, including Malaysians who were part of the mission. The flotilla, comprised of unarmed civilians, was delivering life-saving supplies to Palestinians under blockade.

“By blocking a humanitarian mission, Israel has not only undermined the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people but also insulted the conscience of the international community,” the statement read.

Describing the flotilla as a symbol of solidarity, compassion, and human dignity, the government stressed that its mission represented hope for those enduring “inhumane and unjust” conditions in Gaza.

Malaysia vowed to pursue all legitimate and lawful measures to hold Israel accountable, particularly in ensuring the safety of its citizens. “The security and dignity of Malaysians are a top priority, and we will not remain silent when their rights are violated,” the government asserted.

Reaffirming Malaysia’s longstanding commitment to the Palestinian cause, the statement concluded: “As long as Palestinians are denied their basic rights and aspirations, Malaysia will stand firm and unflinching in demanding an end to the injustice and dispossession that have afflicted them for generations.”
