SHAH ALAM, Jan 23: A battery manufacturing facility in Anggerik Mokara, Kota Kemuning, was extensively damaged after a fire broke out early Friday morning, authorities said.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.

He said the department received an emergency call at 7.25am, prompting the deployment of 25 firefighters from the Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, and Andalas fire and rescue stations.

“The operations commander reported that the fire involved a Class B industrial building, namely a battery factory measuring approximately 150 by 150 square feet, which was about 80 percent destroyed,” he said in a statement.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 8:20am, preventing it from spreading to nearby premises.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, while further assessments will be carried out to determine the extent of the damage.
