MACC, lawyers have discussed the period for declaring Dr. Mahathir’s son’s assets
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has discussed with the former Prime Minister’s son’s lawyer, Tun Dr Mahathir, to determine the period of time to submit an asset declaration notice.
Its Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki said, so far, his party has not yet received any notice from Tan Sri Mohkzani and Mirzan regarding the matter.
“If i’m not mistaken, I haven’t received (property declaration) but recently there was a discussion between the investigating officer and the lawyer to detail the period of time from when (they) have to (declare).
“So, I leave that to the investigating officer,” he said, reported Kosmo Online.
On 18 January last, the MACC asked both of Mahathir’s sons to declare all assets either inside or outside the country within 30 days from the date of the notice.
However, on April 26, Mokhzani and Mirzan were given another 30-day extension under Act 36 MACC 2009.
For the record, Mokhzani was also investigated under the MACC Act 2009 as well as the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Proceeds from Illegal Activities Act 2001.
