Local Man Killed, Three Foreign University Students Arrested
IPOH: Three foreign students from a higher education institution were arrested to assist investigations into the death of a local man who was found unconscious in Kampung Kuchai here on Sept 18.
Ipoh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the 53-year-old victim was found lying on the ground by members of the public with injuries to his face.
He said the victim was subsequently taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for further treatment.
“The victim received treatment for several days before he was pronounced dead on Sept 22, 2026, at about 6.42pm.
“A post-mortem examination found that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Muhammad Najib said following investigations, police arrested three foreign men believed to be linked to the incident.
“The three suspects, aged between 17 and 20, are students at a private higher education institution in Ipoh. They were arrested at an apartment.
“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said.
He said police were conducting further investigations to determine the motive behind the incident.
