Lady Gaga dons an outfit designed by Malaysian designer Rizman Ruzaini during residency in Las Vegas

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer and actress Lady Gaga has developed an interest in local fashion manufacturer Rizman Ruzaini.

The 38-year-old recently performed at MGM Park in Las Vegas, Nevada, and donned a long, crimson gown that Rizman Ruzaini designed that was covered with hundreds of Swarovski crystals.

The dynamic combination Rizman Nordin and Ruzaini Jamil compose Rizman Ruzaini, a couture and bridal design house that is highly regarded in Malaysia for its exquisite craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.

In an interview with Gempak, Rizman stated that the British supermodel Naomi Campbell’s attire from their fashion show in Dubai last year served as the inspiration for their partnership with the Bad Romance singer.

“The designer has more ‘weight’ now that they are modelling our design during the event,” he claimed.

He claimed that they got calls from Hollywood agencies two days after Campbell modelled their design.

“Among them was a stylist who works with well-known vocalists like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga.”

Following the stylist’s call, Rizman began creating the garment using the agency’s measurements.

He noted that for smaller events like dinner shows, foreign celebrities typically wore gowns created by emerging designers.

“Earlier this year, we delivered the outfit to the company that handles Lady Gaga’s wardrobe. The garment was originally intended to be worn only for dinner shows.

However, Lady Gaga insisted on keeping it and wearing it to a more formal occasion when it got there. He remarked, “She claimed the design was too grand for dinner shows.

The actress from A Star Is Born was not paid by the company, according to Rizman, for wearing their creation.

The brand created history last week when it became the first Malaysian designer to have an item on display in London’s esteemed Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A).

A design of theirs is currently on display in an exhibition honouring Campbell.

Campbell wore the garment to the Rizman Ruzaini Spring/Summer showcase in October of last year during Dubai Fashion Week.

Campbell also wore their work on the Red Sea International Film Festival red carpet in Jeddah in December.
