The KD Tun Razak submarine of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) is still operational and in outstanding condition.

Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the Minister of Defense, stated during a working visit to the TLDM Base in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Saturday that he had personally observed KD Tun Razak’s capacity to dive to the maximum operational depth during an operational review of KD Selangor’s offshore patrol vessel (OPV) in the South China Sea.

He said it proves the ability of the country’s submarines to operate well and effectively.

This submarine procurement initiative has produced a crew that is both proficient and effective, and they have been present during this cruise.

“I am sure that this submarine not only symbolizes the modernization of the TLDM Fleet but is also important in building Malaysia’s image as a country with a respected and feared navy,” he stated in a post published on Facebook yesterday.

Mohamed Khaled claims that France was the source of the Scorpene submarine’s 2009 commission.

At the same time, he pledged to remain dedicated to modernizing and empowering vital military assets, thereby safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation.

The Commander of the Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral Datuk Muhammad Ruzelme Ahmad Fahimy, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, were also in attendance at the visit.
