BEIRUT/ISTANBUL, Nov 10:  At least one person was killed and several others injured on Monday in a new Israeli strike on a vehicle in southern Lebanon, local media reported, marking the latest violation of the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), an Israeli drone targeted a car near Baisariyah, a town in the Sidon district. The report said the strike caused casualties but did not provide details on the victim’s identity or the exact number of injured.

The NNA also reported Israeli drone activity over the Iqlim al-Tuffah region, with aircraft flying at medium altitude shortly after the strike.

There has been no immediate response from the Israeli military, which typically refrains from commenting on operations inside Lebanon.

The latest attack comes just a day after two people were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes, despite the ceasefire agreement aimed at halting cross-border hostilities.

Tensions in southern Lebanon have been steadily escalating in recent weeks. The Israeli army has continued near-daily air raids inside Lebanese territory, claiming to target Hezbollah positions and infrastructure.

Since the conflict reignited in October 2023, Israel’s military operations have killed over 4,000 people and injured nearly 17,000, according to Lebanese media and health authorities.

The violence intensified further in September 2024, when Israel launched a full-scale offensive, prompting widespread displacement and destruction across Lebanon’s south.

Despite repeated calls from the United Nations and international mediators for both sides to maintain the ceasefire, cross-border exchanges and targeted strikes have continued, raising fears of a broader regional escalation.
