KUALA LUMPUR: Ira Kazar, the ex-wife of actor-director Syamsul Yusof, has acknowledged that the Mat Kilau filmmaker made several claims following their divorce on September 5. This was confirmed by her syariah lawyer, Mohammad Fadhil Abdul Razak, at the Gombak Timur Lower Syariah Court yesterday.

“Yes, he requested my client to return certain items, but we disagreed, as these matters arose during their marriage,” Mohammad Fadhil stated in a report by Berita Harian. He added, “We have provided suggestions on how to resolve this issue, but so far, we have not received any response from his side.”

Mohammad Fadhil noted that Ira could not disclose details regarding her claim. “We have valid reasons for not agreeing to return these items, which we articulated based on Syariah law.”

Ira, also known as Faghirah Fatini Kazaruddin, 29, remarked, “I have chosen not to comment further to avoid misinterpretation.”

Additionally, the court ordered Syamsul, 40, to pay court attendance fees of RM200 to Ira, as decided by Judge Maizatul Aliza Chee Din. Mohammad Fadhil revealed that Ira had requested a fee of RM3,000 due to the difficulties the situation caused her.

Syamsul and Ira’s marriage took place on January 6 last year in southern Thailand.
