Influencer couple Alif Teega, Aisyah Hijanah and 2 others suspected of donation fraud remanded by MACC
PUTRAJAYA: A married couple who are also well-known on social media have been placed under remand for four days, beginning today, in order to help with the investigation into claims that they stole money from donations.
Two more people have also been placed under remand for a period of four days, from today to July 14, and are thought to be directors of a platform for fundraising.
At the Putrajaya Magistrates’ Court today, Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin granted the MACC’s application and then issued the remand order against the four suspects. The MACC Act’s Section 23 is being used to look into the matter.
The couple was taken into custody at 6:40 p.m. yesterday, as per a MACC source, while the other two suspects were taken into custody at midnight last night following their appearance to provide statements at the MACC headquarters.
The two of them was previously accused of soliciting gifts totaling millions of ringgit, with claims that the money was not distributed to the designated beneficiaries.
All four of the accused were handcuffed when they appeared in court earlier today. They entered at the Magistrates’ Court at 9:18 a.m. dressed in orange MACC lock-up uniforms. – Bernama
