Humanitarian Crisis and Ethnic Violence in Sudan: Sudan Ambassador

13,522

Since October 20, 2024, the RSF Janjaweed militia has carried out violent retaliatory attacks across Eastern Al-Jazirah and the Al-Butana region in response to the defection of RSF commander Abu-Agla Kikal to the Sudanese national army.

These targeted attacks, aimed at civilians linked to the defector’s tribe, have resulted in mass deaths, forced displacements, and widespread destruction of infrastructure. The violence, including killings, rapes, and detentions, has left hundreds dead, with significant impacts on women and children.

The United Nations and other organizations report that Al-Jazirah State has displaced over 135,000 people, severely restricting humanitarian access. In Al Sereicha village, over 124 civilians died in a three-day RSF assault, while in Al-Hilaliya, a massacre led to 260 deaths, compounded by the destruction of water wells, grain mills, and medical facilities. The RSF has reportedly used civilians as human shields in Rufaa city and demanded ransoms for evacuations.

The Sudanese government is urgently appealing to the international community to label the RSF as a terrorist organization, condemn its actions, and hold its sponsors accountable, warning that continued inaction will embolden further atrocities.

Hasan Abdelsalam Omer, ambassador of the Republic of Sudan, stated at a news conference  Monday, November 11, Malaysia time 11 a.m., that the RSF terrorist group is attacking Sudan right now. Terrorists are killing many people—including women and children. He encouraged the worldwide Muslim Ummah, including Malaysia, to step forward to address Sudahon’s issue of suppressing this RSF terrorist organization.
