Gardenia spreads Ramadan cheer, aids 50 underprivileged families and distributes 30,000 loaves to mosques
KUALA LUMPUR: Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd continued its commitment to community welfare this Ramadan by assisting 50 underprivileged families and distributing 30,000 loaves of bread to mosques across Peninsular Malaysia through its Cahaya Ramadan 2026 Programme.
The initiative, now in its sixth year, reflects the company’s ongoing social responsibility efforts guided by its principle of “Always With You”.
Since the programme began in 2021, a total of 138,500 loaves of bread have been distributed through various community engagements.
This year alone, 30,000 loaves of Gardenia Original Classic bread were distributed to 20 selected mosques nationwide. Each distribution also included a limited-edition Hari Raya envelope for congregants, adding a special touch to the Ramadan experience.

As part of the programme, Gardenia also collaborated with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) to organise the “Cahaya Ramadan Programme: A Day with Gardenia”.
Through the initiative, RM25,000 was allocated to 50 underprivileged families, allowing them to shop for their own Hari Raya necessities based on their individual needs and preferences.
The one-day programme was held on March 11 at Mydin Subang Jaya, where each family was accompanied by volunteers to ensure a smooth and comfortable shopping experience.
After completing their purchases, the families were honoured at the Cahaya Ramadan Breaking of Fast Programme held at ISTAC International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
During the event, Gardenia also presented Raya monetary gifts to the participating families as a gesture of appreciation ahead of Syawal.
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, commended the initiative and described it as an example of meaningful corporate compassion.
“This is truly the kind of compassion we hope to see from more corporations in this country, working hand in hand with the government to ensure the wellbeing of the community is always safeguarded,” she said.
Meanwhile, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd senior marketing manager Ena Suhaila Abas said the company believes the spirit of giving should not be limited to festive seasons.
“At Gardenia, the spirit of giving is not seasonal. It is our ongoing approach in contributing to community wellbeing through meaningful social and welfare initiatives.
“We hope this contribution can ease the burden, create meaningful moments and unite the community in the spirit of love and gratitude,” she said.
Founded in 1986, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd is one of Southeast Asia’s leading bread manufacturers.
The company produces 64 products daily, including loaf bread, buns, rolls, cakes and waffles, as well as other products such as spreads and noodles.
