Four Family Members Arrested Over Death of 8-Year-Old Girl in Taiping

IPOH, March 28: Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the tragic death of an eight-year-old girl in Taiping.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Malek Ismail confirmed that the suspects, two men and two women aged between 27 and 53, are believed to be family members of the victim.

“The suspects were taken into custody following investigations. The child was brought unconscious to Taiping Hospital at around 12:43pm on March 26. Despite 30 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, there was no return of spontaneous circulation, and she was pronounced dead at 1:12pm,” Abdul Malek said in a statement on Saturday.

A post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was head and neck injuries caused by blunt trauma. Suspicious injuries were also found on other parts of her body.

The case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“All four suspects have been remanded for seven days starting March 27 to assist with further investigations,” he added.

Authorities are continuing their inquiries, and the community has expressed shock and concern over the tragic incident.
