GUA MUSANG: A 13-year-old Form One student was found unconscious at a hostel in a secondary school in Paloh before being pronounced dead on Tuesday, with initial investigations indicating sudden bleeding in the head and fluid in the lungs as the cause of death.
Sik Choon Foo said police received a report regarding the incident at 8.53am from the boy’s father, who informed authorities that his son had been found unconscious at the school hostel.
According to him, the student was immediately taken by school staff to Klinik Kesihatan Chiku 3 for further medical treatment. However, medical officers at the clinic later confirmed that the teenager had died.
“A post-mortem examination was conducted at 3.30pm at Hospital Gua Musang,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Initial investigations revealed that the cause of death was spontaneous bleeding in the head as well as fluid accumulation in the lungs.
Police also confirmed that further examinations found no criminal elements linked to the incident.
The student’s body has since been handed over to his family for funeral arrangements.
Authorities have classified the case as a sudden death report (SDR), while investigations are still ongoing. Police also urged the public not to spread speculation that could affect the sensitivity and privacy of the victim’s family.
