KUALA LUMPUR: Fly FM, a local radio station, will dedicate 24 hours of airing today to the protest solidarity song Hind’s Hall by American rapper Macklemore.

The radio station, which made the news on Instagram yesterday, stated that the act is in sympathy with Palestinians’ struggle while also calling for a cease-fire in Palestine.

“In solidarity with the people of Palestine, we’ve decided to put a pause on our playlist for tomorrow (June 5) to use our platform to show ways in which you can support the people of Palestine,” the post read.

Aside from playing the song on repeat and having discussions on air about ways to support Palestine, as well as hosting a fundraiser, Fly FM urges their listeners to wear Palestinian flags to remember the occasion.

Meanwhile, Fly FM is attempting to book Macklemore, who recently performed in Australia and New Zealand, to perform in Malaysia.

They are encouraging their followers to request a show through Macklemore’s official website and name Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the comments area, in the hopes that he will help bring the rapper to the nation.

Macklemore’s Hind’s Hall has become a Palestinian unity hymn since it was released in May of this year.

According to TIME, the song’s title refers to the recent siege of Hamilton Hall at Columbia University in the United States, which saw pro-Palestinian activists take over the building and ask for the institution to divest from Israel.

The activists, largely students and faculty members, renamed the hall Hind’s Hall in tribute of six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was slain by Israeli troops in Gaza.

The Columbia encampment began on April 17, and was demolished on April 30 following the arrests of hundreds of protestors who had taken over the hall after clashes with police.
