Five Killed After Private Car Crashes into Truck on Bangladesh Expressway

DHAKA: At least five people, including three members of a family, were killed after a private car crashed into a truck waiting in a toll queue on a motorway in Faridpur district, about 101 kilometres from the capital Dhaka, early Tuesday.

Local Bhanga Fire Service Station official Abu Zafar said the accident occurred at around 3.45am local time when the car reportedly lost control and rammed into the rear of a truck carrying gas cylinders.

He said firefighters and police rushed to the scene and rescued the victims from the wreckage before taking them to hospital, where four people, including a woman, her son, and daughter, were declared dead on arrival.

According to officials, two other injured victims were transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. However, one of them later succumbed to injuries, bringing the death toll to five.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
