Do not use religion to conceal cruelty against children, says Che Puan Khaleeda
KUALA LUMPUR: Any form of cruelty towards children must be met with firm action and cannot be hidden under the guise of religion.
According to Astro Awani, the wife of the Crown Prince of Johor, Che Puan Khaleeda Bustamam, stated that attempts to use religion as an excuse for cruel acts not only insult the law but also tarnish the sanctity of religion.
In a social media post, Che Puan Khaleeda firmly stated that religion should be the foundation for love, protection, and the well-being of society, especially for children.
“Every religion demands justice for those who are unable to defend themselves.
“Therefore, when such heinous crimes occur, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without any compromise,” she said in response to reports about a charitable home suspected of engaging in child exploitation and human trafficking.
In addition to legal action, she also urged the government to take proactive steps to strengthen monitoring of charitable homes and other child care institutions, and to conduct regular audits and inspections.
She also called on all parties, including authorities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the public, to play a role in protecting children from any form of abuse.
At the same time, Che Puan Khaleeda urged the authorities to ensure that the 402 victims are in a better condition.
“I also hope that the authorities ensure the welfare and lives of these 402 victims are improved and guaranteed.
“Immediate recovery measures and psychological and social support should be provided to help them recover from the trauma caused by this exploitation,” she added.
