Diesel subsidy targeting, ASEAN chairmanship among the focus of the Dewan Rakyat
KUALA LUMPUR: Diesel subsidy targeting and the ASEAN chairmanship are among the focus of today’s Dewan Rakyat conference.
Bernama reports, according to the Agenda of the Meeting published on the official website of the Parliament, questions related to the implementation mechanism of the Subsidized Diesel Control System were raised by Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (PN-Larut) to the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living during a question and answer session.
Hamzah wants to know the government’s assurance that the targeting of subsidies does not affect the economic chain as a whole which can push up the price of goods further with the effect on the majority of people, especially the M40 and B40 groups.
In the same session, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (PH-Gombak) asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs questions about Malaysia’s preparations to become ASEAN Chairman next year and the main things to be achieved during the chairmanship period.
Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan (PN-Permatang Pauh) asked the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture to state the statistics of umrah and hajj fraud cases from 2019 to this year as well as the actions imposed on umrah operator agencies that cheat pilgrims.
In addition, Lee Chean Chung (PH-Petaling Jaya) asked about the role of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in helping the country with food safety and security, especially from the point of view of the application of technology and innovation.
Zahari Kechik (PN-Jeli) requested the Minister of Defense to answer questions regarding the latest status of the re-implementation of the National Service Training Program (PLKN).
After the session, the Dewan Rakyat session continued by continuing the debate on the Auditor General’s Report (LKAN) 2/2024.
Also listed in today’s meeting agenda is the first reading of the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Bill 2024.
The Second Meeting of the Third Term of the 15th Parliament lasted for 15 days until 18 July.
