Bomb threat: Police recorded the statement of the Minister of Tourism
PETALING JAYA: The police will record the statement of Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing following the incident of a bomb threat at the building housing his office in Putrajaya, yesterday.
According to Sinar Harian, Putrajaya Police Chief A Asmadi Abdul Aziz said Tiong’s statement will be taken today.
“The statements of other witnesses have been taken and we will record the minister’s (King Sing) statement expected this afternoon,” he said
Yesterday, staff and visitors at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) office in Putrajaya were ordered to evacuate the building following a bomb threat.
However, the police confirmed that the package addressed to the minister was a fake bomb threat.
Asmadi said the Bomb Disposal Unit carried out inspections using two detection dogs and technology to confirm the matter involved.
Reported based on CCTV footage, the package containing explosives similar to the bomb was sent through a courier company at 11.19 a.m.
