BERSATU’s Membership in PN to Be Decided by RoS

PETALING JAYA: The status of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (BERSATU) membership in Perikatan Nasional (PN) needs to be decided by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) in the near future.

BERSATU President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the party would leave the matter to the discretion of the RoS following its decision to call BERSATU Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to provide an explanation.

“We leave it to the discretion of the RoS, and we hope it will make a decision in the near future,” he told a press conference after BERSATU’s 10th anniversary celebration last night.

The RoS previously confirmed that it had received an official complaint from BERSATU, including an allegation that the party was not involved in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council meeting on July 16.

The complaint also included an issue concerning BERSATU’s membership status within the coalition.

According to the RoS, the issues raised in the complaint are being reviewed in accordance with the Societies Act 1966 [Act 832], the Societies Regulations 1984, the organisation’s approved constitution and the department’s official records.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said BERSATU had previously raised eight key issues that it alleged had been breached and disregarded by the current PN leadership.

He said this prompted BERSATU to lodge an official complaint with the RoS, and the matter had since received the department’s attention.
