Bersatu Tangga Batu Chief urges Muhyiddin to replace Tun Faisal

KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu Tangga Batu division chief Ramlan Meon has urged party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to replace Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, accusing him of failing to play the role of a peacemaker within the party.

Ramlan said he was shocked by Tun Faisal’s remarks which drew comparisons with Qarun and Pharaoh, stressing that such statements were personal views and did not represent the party or its divisions.

“As the party’s information chief, Tun Faisal should be a peacemaker. But it seems he prefers to provoke and create division. He has even gone so far as to interfere in other people’s Facebook postings like a cybertrooper,” he said in a statement today.

According to Ramlan, Tun Faisal’s combative approach has not only strained ties among Bersatu members but also affected relationships with Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties and NGOs.

“Any division chief who disagrees with him will be labelled as ignorant, as though he is the smartest while the rest of us are foolish,” he added.

Ramlan also raised the question of whether Tun Faisal was acting as a “trojan horse” taking instructions from certain quarters to divide the party.

He stressed that with the general election drawing near, Bersatu should be focusing on building alliances and strengthening ties among its members and PN partners, not allowing internal discord.

“It would be better for Tun Faisal to be replaced with someone who understands Bersatu’s culture and history, and who respects the institution of division chiefs,” Ramlan said.

He also reminded party leaders’ aides not to issue statements as though they represented the party, pointing out that such aides were not individuals who had fought on the ground.
