KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the coalition will respect and accept any final decision made by MIC, including the party’s move to withdraw from BN.

Speaking after attending the Global Chinese Economic & Technology Summit 2025 at Wisma MCA, Zahid said MIC’s internal affairs were entirely its own prerogative, and BN would not interfere.

“Whatever decision they make, we will accept it with an open and sincere heart,” he said, adding that BN remains committed to maintaining good relations with all component parties.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong was also present at the event, themed “Global Leadership & Partnerships in the Era of Digital and Green Transformation.”

On Sunday, delegates at MIC’s 79th annual general meeting unanimously supported a resolution for the party to exit BN. However, the final call has been left to MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran and the party’s top leadership. Delegates also authorized the leadership to explore potential cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) if needed.

Commenting on BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan’s statement that a meeting would be arranged with MIC’s leadership, Zahid said the approach was appropriate.

“Dialogue is the best way forward. Ultimately, whatever the outcome, it is up to the party concerned,” he said.
