IPOH, Feb 14: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all sectors of society to strengthen family education as a key pillar in building a resilient and united nation, in line with the launch of the National Family Compassion Policy (DKKN).

Speaking at the launch ceremony of DKKN and the People’s Wellbeing Insurance Scheme (SIKR) here today, Anwar said economic progress should not overshadow the critical role of the family institution, which he described as the cornerstone of moral values, character development, and social unity.

He stressed that value formation must begin at home, with parents playing a central role not only in providing love and care but also in setting positive examples for their children.

“That is why I fully support and encourage the ministry to focus on developing healthy and strong families. DKKN serves as a reminder that while we pursue economic growth, advanced education systems, and modern infrastructure, we must not neglect the foundation of family education and compassion,” he said.

Anwar also highlighted that peace and clean governance are essential to sustaining economic performance, adding that Malaysia has strong potential to continue its upward trajectory if corruption and misuse of public funds are eradicated.

“We can rise. Malaysia has tremendous potential. In ASEAN, our economic outlook is among the best, and the ringgit’s performance is currently among the strongest in Asia. We must protect this progress and avoid conflicts that divide people along racial lines,” he said.

At the event, Anwar officially launched DKKN, which symbolizes strength, resilience, and protection in facing future challenges. The policy will be implemented through five strategic pillars aimed at strengthening marriage and family institutions, enhancing family planning capabilities, and improving the quality and effectiveness of parenting.

Also present at the ceremony were Prime Minister’s wife Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
