Al-Quran Is the Saviour of the Country, Leaders Change But the Homeland Remains the Same
MELAKA: The Al-Quran must be made a guide in efforts to defend independence and ensure the country remains on the right path, said MyQurantime Panel Administrator, Dr Shafiq Sahimi.
According to him, leaders may change according to their term of leadership, but the homeland inherited from previous generations remains the same and must be preserved for future generations.
“Because leaders can change. Five years this person, five years later someone else. But the land, the same land. The homeland, the same homeland.
“This is our land, the land of our ancestors that was freed from colonisers. Leaders may come and go, but the homeland remains the same.
“We must love our homeland, sacrifice for independence and defend freedom and independence so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy a free land like what we enjoy today,” he said.
He said this at a reflection session at Masjid As Syuja’ah, North Merlimau in conjunction with Malaysia #QuranHour at the Melaka level on Sunday.
The programme attracted nearly 500 participants starting at 9 am, featuring reflection on Surah al-Muzzammil, Surah al-Balad and Surah al-Baqarah, with recitation led by Imam Muhammad Yusuf Ahyead.
Meanwhile, Shafiq said, Melaka’s history also proves that the strength of faith and the Al-Quran were among the important foundations in the struggle to defend the homeland.
“Melaka is no less great with the history of Raja Ali Haji, Raja Haji Fisabilillah, who was very famous and great, fighting against colonisers with the strength of faith and the Al-Quran.
“In his right hand was Dalail Khairat (guide to goodness), in his left hand a keris. It shows that those who read the Al-Quran and have faith will never be separated from their homeland in their struggle and defence,” he said.
He said, the community needs to return to the Al-Quran as a guide in efforts to save the state and country.
He added, independence should not only be seen from the perspective of freedom from physical colonisation, but the community must also free their minds from influences that can lead them into enslavement to positions, titles, praise and followers.
“The nation has been independent, but the mind is still colonised. We fail to control our desires and the world, not yet free from being slaves to positions and titles.
“Many people have not yet freed themselves from being slaves to praise and followers. We must save them and bring them out of that enslavement to becoming servants of Allah SWT,” he said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Director of the Mosque Management Division of the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM), Murad Ahmat, who is also the programme secretary for Melaka state, said the organisation of Malaysia #QuranHour taking place a day before the National Day celebration is very fitting to ignite the spirit of independence through Quran-based appreciation.
According to him, the programme also serves as a resolution for the community to develop a prosperous Malaysia by leveraging technological advancements without sidelining the guidance of the Al-Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW.
“Technology is a bonus for us as long as we are guided by the Al-Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW to rise and build Malaysia as well as preserve the peace and what we have achieved before, so that it is not wasted for future generations.
“The programme held close to the independence month is very fitting because we want to celebrate independence with appreciation.
“Not that we celebrate independence in a state of neglectful desire, entertainment and so on. It is not wrong for us to want to celebrate it, but it must be controlled with knowledge and understanding,” he said.
