Agong hopes government will continue to boost the nation’s economy

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, hopes the government will continue its efforts to stimulate the national economy to create more job opportunities and improve the income and living standards of the people.

According to Bernama, His Majesty, who expressed pleasure at the improved economic conditions and trade performance of the country, stated that all leaders and government officials must uphold their responsibilities with integrity for the benefit of the people and the nation.

His Majesty also emphasized the need to avoid practices of corruption and abuse of power.

“I also hope that all Malaysians will continue to maintain unity, live harmoniously, and stand firm in upholding the Rukun Negara,” His Majesty said during the Federal Decorations, Stars, and Medals Ceremony in conjunction with the official birthday celebration of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today.

Also present at the ceremony at the Balairung Seri, National Palace were the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Raja Zarith Sofiah; Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim; Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi; and Cabinet ministers.

His Majesty and the Raja Permaisuri Agong also expressed their gratitude for the congratulatory messages and prayers from the people on the occasion of the official birthday celebration today.

“The prayers of the entire nation always accompany me in fulfilling my duties and responsibilities as the Head of State.

“Let us pray to Allah SWT that Malaysia continues to receive blessings, prosperity, and remains peaceful, prosperous, and harmonious,” His Majesty said.

Earlier, Anwar, in delivering his congratulatory message to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during the ceremony, stated that the government would continue to intensify efforts to ensure the country remains stable and to create a conducive and business-friendly ecosystem.

Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, topped the list of 116 recipients of the Federal Decorations, Stars, and Medals 2024, being awarded the Panglima Mangku Negara (PMN) which carries the title Tan Sri.
