KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (VoM): Malaysia’s largest Islamic youth movement, Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM), has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir for its sweeping victory in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections. Shibir secured 23 out of 28 posts, including the top three leadership positions.
According to ABIM, this overwhelming mandate reflects the strong trust of students in principled and value-based leadership. In its congratulatory message, ABIM recalled attending the Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Member Conference in Dhaka eight months ago, the first such gathering since 2010. The conference saw the election of new leadership and a renewed vision for the future. During that visit, ABIM delegates also toured Dhaka University and met with faculty and students, deepening their appreciation of Bangladesh’s rich intellectual and activist student tradition.
ABIM emphasized that this victory is not merely an electoral milestone but part of a broader struggle for justice, dignity, and youth empowerment in Bangladesh. The organization also acknowledged the participation of other student groups and independent candidates, calling it a reflection of the vibrancy of democratic culture at Dhaka University.
In an official statement posted on ABIM’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/abimalaysia) at 11:30 p.m. (Malaysia time), ABIM president Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohd Samsudin said, “As a youth movement committed to truth and justice, we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh. May this victory strengthen student welfare, uphold democratic traditions, and contribute to the wider cause of justice and humanity.”
He further expressed hope that the win would inspire Muslim youth movements worldwide to persevere with wisdom, resilience, and unity in the face of contemporary challenges.
