Teluk Intan, May 13, 2025 — In a devastating incident, eight members of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) lost their lives in a traffic accident that occurred this morning on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam near Teluk Intan, Perak.
At approximately 8:30 AM, a collision took place between a truck transporting stones and an FRU truck carrying fifteen personnel. The crash resulted in catastrophic consequences for those aboard the FRU vehicle.

According to Hilir Perak District Police Chief,ACP Dr. Bakri Zainal Abidin, three individuals sustained critical injuries, while seven others were treated for various degrees of injury. Emergency response teams, including the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, responded swiftly from the nearby Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Station, located about eight kilometers from the crash site. Rescue efforts were immediately launched, and the injured were transported to Teluk Intan Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

This tragic incident marks one of the most severe losses suffered by the FRU in recent memory. It follows a similarly devastating accident in 1990, when eleven FRU personnel and seventeen others perished in a multi-vehicle collision on the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Highway.
