Every Malaysian has the responsibility to maintain unity based on the five principles of Rukun Negara: king and queen

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah said it is the duty of every Malaysian to maintain harmony and unity.

According to the five principles of Rukun Negara, every Malaysian is responsible for keeping the country united. In their Hari Raya message tonight, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah stated as such.

The royal couple said, “Along with working to bring people together in a smart and useful way, we must also work to stop things that could cause divisions.”

They said that unity and peace at all levels of society were what made a country, and that these values should be kept alive and nourished for future generations.

Furthermore, it is crucial for everyone to understand that maintaining peace is an ongoing process. “It is imperative that we consistently educate, nurture, and instruct our populace regarding these principles,” they declared.

The king and queen emphasized that unity must extend beyond the surface. This is particularly applicable in situations where the actions of those who lack knowledge are causing anger among certain individuals.
