600 Omoda 5 Chery SUVs are immediately recalled by JPJ

PUTRAJAYA, May 3 — In reaction to a widely reported event on social media on April 28, the Road Transport Department (RTD) has issued a recall notice for 600 units of Chery’s Omoda 5 model vehicles, effective immediately.

The RTD said in a statement that Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn Bhd has been called upon to carry out a comprehensive inquiry and acquire further data in order to guarantee the safety of drivers and vehicle owners.

“The company will get in touch with vehicle owners to arrange inspection times, or they can drop by any service centre around the country.

The RTD stated, “Any affected components will be replaced, with Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn Bhd covering all costs.”

RTD said it will keep an eye on the recall procedure and is dedicated to making sure all impacted units are examined, found to be safe, and that the axle replacement procedure is completed.

The RTD recommended all Omoda 5 model vehicle owners to organise for the recall procedure and vehicle inspections as soon as possible in light of this.
