The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has imposed a prohibition order on three books, citing concerns over their potential to harm public morality in Malaysia.

In a statement today, KDN announced that the ban was officially gazetted under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 [Act 301] and took effect on January 21 and 22, 2025.

The three banned titles are My Shadow Is Purple by Scott Stuart, Koleksi Puisi Masturbasi by Amir Hamzah bin Akal Ali (Benz Ali), and All That’s Left In The World by Erik J. Brown.

The government stressed that the ban aims to safeguard societal values and prevent content that may negatively influence readers. Publishing, distribution, or possession of these books is now prohibited, and legal action against violators is possible.

KDN urged the public to remain vigilant and report any materials that may contradict the nation’s moral and ethical principles.
