Malaysia will take part in the Gaza Ministerial Conference in Cairo
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Mohamad bin Alamin will attend the Cairo Ministerial Conference titled “A Year Since the Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza: Urgent Needs, Lasting Solutions” on 2 December 2024 in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt.
The Ministerial Conference is jointly convened by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The conference will convene member states of the United Nations, representatives from pertinent United Nations agencies, and various international and regional organizations, alongside non-governmental and civil society organizations, to discuss the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza resulting from the continuous military actions of the Israeli regime.
The Deputy Foreign Minister will read Malaysia’s National Statement, which will stress the need for strong action on a global scale, put unrestricted humanitarian access first, call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and support peace efforts that aim to recognize the Palestinian State based on the borders that existed before 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He would also emphasize Malaysia’s ongoing support and assistance to the Palestinian cause.
Malaysia’s involvement in the conference underscores its unwavering dedication to the Palestinian cause and its attempts to partner with allied nations in promoting enduring peace in the Middle East and beyond.
