Trump is “more dangerous,” says Greta Thunberg, but Harris gets a bad grade on Gaza
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg said on Friday that Donald Trump is the “more dangerous” candidate for president in the US election next week. She also criticized the current government for supporting Israel.
In a post on X, the activist, who is 21 years old, said that it was “probably impossible to overestimate the consequences this specific election will have for the world and for the future of humanity.” The US elections are November 5.
“Trump is definitely the most dangerous candidate,” Thunberg said.
However, she also expressed disapproval of Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden for their support of Israel’s attack in Gaza. Harris is running against former President Donald Trump.
Thunberg said, “Let’s not forget that genocide in Palestine is occurring while Biden and Harris are in office, with American money and help.”
“It is not feminist, progressive, or humanitarian in the least to bomb children and civilians without a reason. It is the exact opposite, even if a woman is in charge.”
An AFP count of Israeli government numbers shows that the war in Gaza began with Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2017. The attack killed 1,206 people, mostly civilians.
According to the health minister of Hamas-run Gaza, Israel’s retaliatory bombing and ground war have killed at least 43,259 Palestinians, most of whom were civilians.
These numbers are thought to be accurate by the United Nations.
Thunberg told Americans they should do more than just vote. She told them to take direct action against the “catastrophic consequences of American imperialism” by protesting and boycotting.
“In America, my main message is to remember that you can’t just choose the least bad option,” Thunberg said.
