The UN’s Palestine relief organization, UNRWA, is banned by the Israeli parliament

The United Nations organization for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), which was established by the UN General Assembly 75 years ago to assist Palestinians who were uprooted by Israel in 1948, is prohibited under Israeli legislation.

A strong majority of lawmakers from all political stripes in Israel supported the measure, which was put forth by members of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party.

The bill forbids Israeli officials and organizations from interacting with UNRWA in any way and forbids the organization from operating directly or indirectly in the occupied Palestinian territories.
